November 2008

Another day another self indulgent moment of self googling. Here’s us in a cool spanish blog about art and repurposing detritus… AKA recycling.

You know like everybody else we probably spend too much time on the internet. And like everybody else we occasionally google ourselves. Often we are surprised that mesabonita comes up pretty close to the top of the list. We found this one just this morning. Wow! We are listed just below Ikea above Tincon which is one of Barcelona’s most fashionable furniture stores. Could it be that the list is alphabetical? Nah…

We feel lucky to be participating in the prestigious Drap-Art’08 a festival of all things artistically recycled. Held on the 19th, 20th and 21th of December, between 11 am and 10 pm. Located in Barcelona’s wonderful CCCB art space this could quite possibly be the event of the year. OK… there will be only 2 weeks left… but… Come over and kick table or 2.

On the 5th and 6th of December we are opening up the casa for our first annual Christmas sale. We will be joined by our fellow purveyors of all things artisanal; Frikla 583 and Pompon Gazelle.

We will have our usual compliment of side tables, coffee tables and consoles and a big selection of our latest offering, “Salvamanteles“, aka trivets… which are less romantically known as hot pads. We’ll put the whole collection up on flickr so check ‘em out. The thing that’s great about the trivets is that they are small, portable and a lot less expensive than the already reasonably priced tables. Yep a piece of old Barcelona can be on your dining table or counter for not much more than the price of a good bottle of wine.

And speaking of wine we have some mini ones just right for protecting the mantele (tablecloth) from errant drips. Like everything we do these are completely handmade and feature reclaimed antique historically important modernista baldosas. Drop us a note or drop on by if you are interested. And for those of you who do drop on by on Friday we’ll feed you a casero lunch of a special estofado, tarta de manzanas y pan y vino for cinco euros! Cinco euros! Por favor! Que Chulo! Here’s a map to our casa.
